Positive and Negative Perfectionism

The claim made the author of the article is that perfectionism is directly tied to personality. The author shows how perfectionism can have both negative and positive impacts on the personality of a person. The author explains how personality is affected by perfectionism, both positively and negatively. Negative perfectionism has been directly associated with neuroticism. Neuroticism is where a person is affected by mood swings and tends to have deep moods. Positive perfectionism has been seen to be associated with conscientiousness. Conscientiousness is the quality of doing something well, thoroughly, and efficiently. This makes people repeat a certain thing until the person supervising them agrees that the task has been done the way it is supposed to be done. Most of those being supervised feel comfortable with their perfectionist supervisor. Both variables have been measured with numerous statistics to ensure that the data obtained is efficient and trustworthy.

The researchers conducted their research based on information that had already been collected by medical facilities. They also made use of questionnaires, which were administered with the consent of the participants. This means that the research was conducted ethically. The participants’ consent proves this as the research team asked for the participants’ permission before data was collected. The research team, therefore, cared about what the participants wanted.

Over the years, ethical considerations have been made by most of the researchers. This has led to the change of the research over the years.

This has led to different results being obtained over the years. However, the results have helped understand perfectionism as even after all the research, the difference in the results makes them more legit and understandable.
