Literature and problem statement

Many authors use literature in their literature. Many of them use the literature to try and make their work distinct and appealing to the reader. In the article, the author uses strong words to show the matter’s seriousness at hand. This makes the urgency of the article be felt by all the people who read it. It also makes people want to read the article even more since the work is also organized elegantly.

The problem statement of the article is hand hygiene. The report also focuses his research on a particular group of people who, in this case, are the public university employees (Stedman-Smith, M., DuBois, C. L., & Grey, S. F., 2015). For this study to be conducted, there was a problem that needed to be solved. In this case, the problem was the rise of diseases such as the common cold, influenza, and gastrointestinal infections (Stedman-Smith, M., DuBois, C. L., & Grey, S. F., 2015). The problem has been framed and puts consistently with the research approach. The author also justifies his problem by saying the diseases above cause the university employees to be absent since they call in sick. Sometimes, the infections may also cause people with low immunity to losing their lives (Stedman-Smith, M., DuBois, C. L., & Grey, S. F., 2015). This reduces their productivity, and the university’s management is forced to incur costs trying to replace the university’s staff.

The findings of the study show that most employees do not consider the importance of hand hygiene. They, therefore, spread the infections all around the campus, making other people get sick too (Stedman-Smith, M., DuBois, C. L., & Grey, S. F., 2015). However, if the employees regarded hand hygiene highly, the rate if the spread of disease would reduce because the researchers found out that hand hygiene was related to many infections, and washing them regularly reduced the chances of a person getting infections.

The citations of the article are not current. This is because most are not within the past five years, with some dated to 2008. This may affect the outcome of the research since many things might have changed within the period. It was, therefore, crucial for the author to use recent citations to make his work credible.
